Calderdale Athletics Network

Calderdale Athletics Network started as the Calderdale Athletics Development Group in 2003, this was a voluntary group of representatives from local clubs ( Halifax Harriers, Stainland Lions, Calder Valley Fell Runners & Todmorden Harriers ), schools, Calderdale MBC and England Athletics who all wanted to develop provision for all athletes and athletic events within Calderdale. CADG had great success in developing  SportsHall, XC and Disability provision and competition which resulted in increased junior membership of clubs. CADG also achieved great success in recruiting and developing coaches and volunteers by accessing grant funding and offering shared sessions where coaches could be supported by more experienced mentors.

CADG was one of the pilot Athletics Networks supported by England Athletics during 2008 / 9 and now has strong links with a range of partners. In 2010, Holmfirth Harriers joined the Network.

Leeds Metropolitan University has supplied Y3 Sports Therapy students to work alongside Network coaches at shared training sessions. The Network has also provided workshops for the Bradford Athletics Network and has hosted squad and coach development sessions for the West Yorkshire Endurance Squad and the FRA England U16 Fell & Mountain squads.
